About

The 1703 art fair has been a vibrant part of Saint Petersburg’s cultural landscape since 2022, hosted by PJSC Gazprom with the endorsement of the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture. This project aims to promote contemporary art, foster the collecting practices and consolidate the artistic community under one creative platform.

As Russia’s cultural capital, Saint Petersburg has long deserved a large-scale contemporary art fair, building on its rich traditions of private collecting. The first season in 2022 brought together more than 20 leading Russian contemporary art galleries, showcasing a wide spectrum of artistic practices and emerging trends in the art world. The event attracted over 10,000 visitors in just four days, earning acclaim from cultural professionals and enthusiasts alike.

In its second season, the fair expanded significantly, hosting 36 galleries from cities such as St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kaluga and Istanbul, presenting over 1,500 works of art. With a footfall exceeding 15,000 visitors, it became a must-see event, offering the highest quality of works across all media from painting and sculpture to cutting-edge installations and digital art.

A cornerstone of the 1703 art fair is its robust educational program, developed in collaboration with the Masters School. This program includes an annual lecture series featuring leading experts, alongside dynamic discussions, mediations and workshops during the fair itself. These initiatives aim to demystify the art market, explore the intricacies of art pricing and highlight the role of fairs in shaping contemporary collecting practices.

The 1703 art fair continues to evolve, positioning itself as a vital international platform for dialogue and collaboration in the art world.
